Acme has over 77 years of history, built on a strong family foundation. Throughout the years, we’ve remained focused on providing our customers with the highest quality outsourced warehousing and transportation services.

1947

After performing his military service, Jack Grunwald returns to his home in Denver, CO and opens Acme Delivery Service. With one station wagon and a big dream, Jack begins our legacy.

1951

Jack’s delivery service had grown and his service was so loved by his largest customer, they asked if he would start to provide warehousing services for hire. The first warehouse is opened in lower downtown Denver.

1953

Leon Goldfogel takes over his father’s wholesale grocery business and converts it into a “public warehousing business” and calls it Imperial Distribution Services, Inc. providing for the future creation of CIA Consolidators.

1965

After years of being friendly competitors, Jack and Leon had each grown their respective businesses and create the industry’s first true third party consolidation service called CIA Consolidators. Although freight charges were regulated at this time, the innovative concept of combining multiple LTL shipments together to make truckload volume pricing provides huge freight savings to their respective customers and sparked years of phenomenal growth by all the CIA member companies and later adopted by the logistics industry.

1987

Acme purchases 47 acres of land in Aurora, CO (east of Denver) and constructs one of the largest industrial warehouse buildings at that time of almost 1 million square feet in size.

1988

The “Acme Tower Road Complex” opens for business with state of the art designs & systems and increases Acme’s total warehousing capacity and efficiency. The complex which not only includes the new warehouse facility but also specifically designed areas for trans-load cross dock services as well as a stand-alone truck maintenance shop and fueling stations.

1989

Acme acquires all of the operations and assets of Imperial Distribution, Craig’s Distribution, Craig-Imperial Distribution, LJR Distribution and CIA Consolidators.

 

1995

Howard Logistics is created to provide specific services catered toward retail & fulfillment needs.

2003

Acme opens in Harrisburg, PA.

2008

Jack L.K. Grunwald retires and passes the company successorship to his 4 most seasoned executives to ensure continued growth.

2017

Acme opens operation in Fife, WA.

2018

Seth Goldfogel becomes President of Acme Distribution.
